Pilgrimage Itinerary

Day 1 - Monday 13th May |Depart Dublin
Check-in at Dublin airport flight to Santiago de Compostela. On arrival, you will be met by your guide and transferred to the Hotel Gelmirez in Santiago, and check in for 3 nights.

Day 2 - Tuesday 14th May | Santiago to Negreira 21km
After breakfast set out from the hotel and leave the historic centre of Santiago de Compostela and head northwards. Once you cross the beautiful medieval bridge of Ponto Maceira, you will encounter wooded paths, rustic villages and rolling farmlands. The days greatest challenge is the short but steep climb to Alto do Mar. The stage ends in the medieval town of Negreira. Transfer back to our hotel in Santiago.

Day 3 - Wednesday 15th May | Negreira to Olveiroa 33km
During today's long stage you will come across bucolic green landscapes dotted with pastures and small villages. As you climb Monte Aro you will be greeted with lovely views of the Fervenza Dam before you enter the wild Serra de Castelo and the Xallas Valley. The town of Olveiroa in the Xallas Valley offers some fine examples of Galician pastoral architecture. Transfer back to our hotel in Santiago.

Day 4 - Thursday 16th May | Olveiroa to Corcubin 22km
Transfer to Olveiroa (approx. 25min). Today you walk along a stunning path lined with chapels, stone crosses and hermitages. The trail culminates at the southern end in legendary Costa da Morte (Coast of Death), which gets its name from the many shipwrecks along its rugged shore. After spending so much time contemplating the colours of the land, your first view of the blue Atlantic Ocean will be unforgettable. After our walk, we will be transferred to the Hotel Oca Insua Costa da Morte where we will check in for 3 nights.

Day 5 - Friday 17th May | Corcubin to Finisterre 13km
Follow a pleasant coastal trail that takes you along pretty cliffs and coves until your arrival at the seaside village of Finisterre, an authentic Galician fishing community where it is possible to sample some of the best seafood dishes in all of Spain. After lunch we will continue on to Cape Finisterre. Cape Finisterre was the last stopover for pilgrims who made a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. The Lighthouse of Finisterre stands at the westernmost point of the Iberian Peninsula at Cape Finisterre, on the west coast of Galicia, Spain. The renowned lighthouse is considered to be one of the most powerful lighthouses in Europe. To add to the wonder, the wild and treacherous Cape Finisterre is said to be the End of the World' since medieval times.

Day 6 - Saturday 18th May | Finisterre to Muxa 29km
A long but beautiful stage that follows an unspoilt coastline and ends in the lovely fishing village of Muxa. There you can visit the Sanctuary of Nuestra Senora de la Barca where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared in a stone boat to offer solace and encouragement to the Apostle James. You can also visit the famous Rocking Stones' overlooking the Atlantic. We return to the hotel for our evening meal.

Day 7 - Sunday 19th May | Santiago
After breakfast we return to Santiago where we can attend Pilgrim Mass in the Cathedral and hopefully witness the famous swinging of the Botafumeiro. Afterwards there will be some time to explore the Cathedral and the surrounding before checking in to the Hotel Gelmirez. Take the rest of the day to explore the city.

Day 8 - Monday May 20th | Day of Departure
Enjoy breakfast in the hotel and take some free time before your transfer to the airport for our return flight home.

*It is our intention to follow the itinerary as outlined above, however due to many factors like local holidays, traffic or weather conditions it may be necessary to make changes to the order of events or even the cancelation of certain events.
